As the only graduate of Johnson County Community College in the race, I am running for the Board of Trustees to represent the community. I started back to JCCC when I had a child and began working as an early childhood educator while raising my son, working two jobs and attending school one night a week to earn my Child Development Associate Credential. After working seven days a week while raising my son, I landed a job as a paralegal with no training. I was lucky to attend Johnson County Community College in their American Bar Approved Paralegal Studies Program. Being a single mom, working full time, and being a student made all three harder to accomplish, but I persevered and graduated with my Certificate in Paralegal Studies from JCCC in 2006. Since then, I have worked in family law, criminal law, and returned to school at Baker University to complete my Master's in Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution in 2011. Even after my Master's Degree, I found myself returning to JCCC, now for mediation classes to become a Kansas Supreme Court Approved Mediator in domestic, core, and parent-adolescent mediation. Working as a public servant, I help people resolve their problems through constructive communication, using my conflict management skills every day. Please vote for me for Trustee of JCCC in the primary August 6, 2019!
I want to build a community college that is responsive with a fair process that includes voices of everybody from the community.
Ready to be the change we need to make JCCC more accessible, transparent, and inclusive.
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue our compaign to improve Johnson County Community College.
